I created The Cozy Classroom because I believe early childhood should feel safe, joyful, and full of connection. This is more than an early learning program — it’s a small, inclusive community where children of all abilities learn side by side, build friendships, and discover what makes them unique. As a teacher with Mesa Public Schools, I’ve seen firsthand how many young children today struggle with social-emotional regulation. The ability to manage big feelings, work through frustration, solve problems peacefully, and build healthy peer relationships is truly the foundation for later academic success. When children feel secure and emotionally supported, they are able to focus, engage, and thrive in their learning. Because of this, social-emotional development is intentionally woven into everything we do. In our cozy, home-based classroom, children ages 3–5 are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and grow at their own pace. Whether your child is outgoing and energetic or quiet and observant, they will be seen, valued, and supported here. With a maximum class size of eight children, I’m able to give each child individualized attention every day. I truly get to know their personalities, strengths, and needs — and that relationship is at the heart of everything we do. Our schedule follows the Mesa Public Schools calendar, so families can enjoy consistency with holidays and school breaks. As a state-certified teacher with dual certification in Early Childhood and Special Education, I blend hands-on learning with purposeful play. Throughout our mornings together, children develop:
• Confidence and independence
• Social-emotional skills and empathy
• Early literacy and math foundations
• Problem-solving and critical thinking
• Cooperation and communication
Kindergarten readiness is thoughtfully woven into our daily routine. Children will practice identifying letter names and sounds, recognizing and naming shapes, colors, and patterns, and identifying numbers while building counting skills and early number sense. Through hands-on activities, games, songs, and interactive play, these foundational skills are introduced in ways that feel natural, engaging, and developmentally appropriate — building both confidence and a love for learning. Most importantly, I want children to leave each day feeling proud of themselves, excited about learning, and confident in who they are.
